Welcome back to The GEEKL33TGAMER

Welcome to the re-designed home of The GEEKL33TGAMER. I have given the site a new, more gamer focused name and identity. The new lick of paint the website has received over the old one is also very welcome.

I hope everyone likes the changes, and helps to grow this community even further than before. The community of the old site was filled with mostly racers, and that has underline the main direction of this new site. I personally spoke to many of the users on the old site and listened to things you guys wanted. I've addressed the following most common issues:

  • Tournaments and Leader boards: Starting in the next 2 weeks, I have created an entire E-Sports tournament section that will exist under the Multiplayer section of the site. We will host regular tournaments and series races over a month where users can win real world prizes for winning.
  • Them Forums: Yeah, I know - the old ones were pretty difficult to navigate. I've completely redesigned them so go take a look.
  • Website content: Gaming activity will take more a focus, so you can easily find the most popular titles our members are playing. We are still a publication, but that is now limited to just game reviews and PC hardware.
  • Server reliability: Cross your fingers, but this new server is looking good. If your reading this then I consider this progress!
  • Mobile phone use: The site is now fully responsive, and will scale to fit easily on any modern smart phone or tablet.

I'm still open to feedback as always, so reply to this article with your thoughts or jump on over to the forums are let us know what can be done better.

Finally, don't worry for the time being if things look a touch empty on the site. It's driven by content that you create and will fill-out over the next month. Enjoy the new site.

Planet Coaster is getting ready to ride

Shortly after this years E3, Frontier Developments took the wraps off Planet Coaster. There's was little knowledge of the games existence prior to the formal announcement, and screenshots are still hard to come by showing actual gameplay. There's certainly nothing we can publish, but there are 4 screenshots over that the games new official website. The announcement was met with little fanfare, despite the trailer they debut at the show which we have below.

To anyone who has played RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, this game will look similar - It's the same developer who made RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 before they split from Atari. The game looks to be a sequel to the now 11 year old title, with a revamped graphics engine and greater level of complexity in park and ride construction. We expect fans of the genre will be familiar with RollerCoaster Tycoon World that Atari currently have in development, and the continued delays and developer changes underway. That title is very incomplete, and their forums show an outpouring of support over Frontier's new title.

The game is available to pre-order now from their website, and starts at £20. You'll need to spend £50 to get access to next months beta however. We'll be tracking this game's progress very closely, and for the first time in 11 years fans may finally get the sequel to the game they have been waiting for.

The game releases to PC in 2016.
